Citrocello, which is known as Limoncello, is a lemon liqueur which originated in Italy.  It is made from lemon peels, carefully grated or microplaned, avoiding the white pith, because this makes it bitter.  It is then, put into big jars filled with vodka and allowed to infuse for 20-30 days, or until the oil from the peels gives the vodka a yellow color.  It is then passed through a cheesecloth, about 3 or 4 times,  or, until all the peels are gone.  Then,  a mixture of water and sugar is made into syrup, with the proper proportion and added to the infused vodka.
 
A versatile drink, it is usually taken as a digestif, after a meal, to aid in digestion. 
 
Nowadays, it can also be taken as an aperitif, before a meal, or if you want to be creative, you can make your own concoction.  From a simple lemon slush or a cranberry-limoncello cocktail.  Use your magination and it will definitely be well worth it.
 
It can also be used for cooking. A Shrimp Limoncello Pasta is light and delicious.  For baking.  From a Limoncello Cake, Limoncello Cookies or to add pizzazz to your vanilla ice cream or fresh fruit desserts.

We bring some good news to the ensaimada connoisseur. Imang Salud ensaimadas are soft and rich, not too sugary, with real butter and topped with nothing less than Holland queso de bola. Its traditional “heirloom” Kapampangan recipe dates back to the 1930s, developed and modified by Salud Dayrit-Santos, one of San Fernando’s renowned cooks of her time, and passed on from one generation to the next. Her granddaughter Meliza Henares introduced the recipe to Manila in 2005.

This homemade ensaimada is delightfully huge–six inches in diameter, to be exact. Its rich, buttery flavor literally melts in your mouth and the sharpness of the imported queso de bola is balanced beautifully with the right amount of sugar. Once you take that first heavenly bite, you’ll be craving for more. These delicious ensaimadas and other delicacies like plantanilla and tibuk-tibuk are available every Sunday at Imang Salud, Henares’ stall at the Legazi Sunday Market in Makati. Plantanilla are rich and delicate crepe-like eggrolls filled with sweet latik, also made following an heirloom recipe of Lola Salud. Tibuk-tibuk, dayap-flavored maja blanca, is made of carabao’s milk and coconut milk.

Pizza Di Grazzia/Rafik Shawarma makes Authentic Italian Pizza and Authentic Lebanese Wagyu Beef, Brazilian Beef, Lamb, and Chicken Shawarma from scratch using only the finest and most wholesome ingredients. Grace and Miguel ran the now defunct The Hideaway Bar in Malate on top of The Hobbit House (the original location) where the pizza proved to be very popular.  Later on they were invited to become vendors in the Saturday Salcedo Market, and thus Pizza di Grazzia was born. A year later Pizza di Grazzia joined the Sunday Legazpi Market. Living in Cubao, Quezon City; Miguel and Grace found that to get authentic shawarma they had to travel all the way to Ermita to get something decent. After much research, trial and error; and the discovery of a Wagyu Beef supplier, Rafik Shawarma was born. Because of the wild success of Rafik Shawarma, its operations were spun into those of Pizza di Grazzia in both Salcedo and Legazpi Markets.
